| People training with the Society of Analytical Psychology have usually had a previous training in a related mental health profession. The training programme consists of a personal analysis (4 or 5 sessions weekly), supervised work with patients and theoretical study of Jungian and post-Jungian ideas. The course explores Analytical Psychology and its links with, and divergence from, contemporary psychoanalytic thinking. The emphasis on infant and child development offers an understanding of the origins and complexitites of problems experienced in later life. For those who are interested, the training fulfills the requirements of Accredited Prior Experiental Learning for a Professional Doctorate. In the early 1970s the training programme in chlid analysis was established. The programme is no longer accepting new trainees in its present format although the Children's Section of the Society will continue. Details of the adult training programme are available on the Society of Analytical Psychology's website. The
